Audrey Hood Hampton
My artwork most often depicts woodland scenes near my home and across northern Wisconsin. Often it is the simplest thing such as light on a tiny brook, or a fallen tree or stump that attracts my emotions and inspires me to paint. Usually my paintings are developed from a series of photographs I have taken or from quick sketches I have done on location. I work primarily in my studio utilizing many of the techniques available to watercolor artists, often trying new things to achieve a special effect. My landscapes seem to take on a life of their own, and develop differently than originally planned, as memories of another place or time come to mind.
