I was born in upstate New York where I was taught to enjoy the great outdoors and appreciate nature.
I was fortunate to meet Lois, while attending school at Great Lakes Navy Training Center. Lois and I were married in 1955 and raised two boys in the Milwaukee area. After 31 years at Wisconsin Bell, I was able to retire and moved to northern Wisconsin in 1990.
I became interested in wood carving while on a Boundary Waters canoe trip. I took my first class at Waukesha Technical. I have continued to learn "The Art of Carving", by taking classes from World Class Carvers. I have won awards at various carving and art shows. I won 1st and 2nd Best of Show for "Realistic Life Size Song Birds" at Northern National, 1997 and 1st Best of Show "Miniature Wildlife", at Northern National, 2002, The Northern National was held in Minneapolis, Minn. The Northern Nation is a major carving competition from carvers across the country. My goal is to compete at "The World" carving show, that is held in Ocean City, Maryland.
My love of carving is birds, but I have done animals, wild and domestic and accept the challenge of carving for realism. If you have a special bird or animal that you would like me to carve, I will do commissions. I am always happy to answer questions or discuss the process of carving.
E-mail me if you have any questions.
